It all started with a diving school in Fuerteventura, I was under water for the first time in September 1985 and from then on the underwater world has fascinated me. From there on, I had to look for a diving spot abroad every year, but I also started diving in my home waters.
The Year 1988
This year I decided to start my diving instructor career in Hurghada with James& Mac by taking part in a Cross Over Instructor Course, I had the opportunity to become PADI or SSI Instructor at the Time.
I chose SSI International
So I gained my first experiences at James & Mac That were unforgettable, especially with Mac
A change was imminent, so I moved to Club Alda in Turkey in September 1989, the focus was here exclusively on OWD training, which I still enjoy most, apart from diving to see the smiles on the divers faces during the first dive under water. I stay there until November 1991
Returning to Egypt this time Safaga where I was allowed to collect my first traces as a base manager, I build up a new diving school and I managed it.
It meant a lot to me to build her up property, but as a dive instructor you`re always looking, so I left Safaga in September 92 for the Caribbean.
Was peppered with experiences in the Caribbean from the Dominican Republic to Cuba, to the Netherlands Antilles, Bonaire, then Curacao and then as finishing up on St. Lucia…God that’s was nice, that mix of people and food and culture and underwater great dive sites to admire. So what was missing? the Maledives of course
Maledives, six great months with dives that simply captivate everyone, from currents, big fishes, drift dives/night dives, everything was there, but diving 5 times a day was also a big burden….I got an offer to open a diving center school in Greece, more precisely Mykonos from April-October a small bay with a small diving school, a wonderful view over this bay and clear visibility where the highlight here.
I also fell in love with my future wife on a diving course, so she drew me back to Switzerland where we started a family but diving never let go of me in Switzerland either, so I founded a diving school in Bülach.
Start of our Diving School, which we successfully ran for 9 years, got to know many customers and people and it meant a lot to me to have made it in Switzerland. Now my Children are grown and are going their way, just like I will now go my way in the Philippines.
This will be a new chapter in my life in cooperation with the Royal Suites, Port Barton, my life Partner Anne will support me privately and professionally Irene, who is an SSI Instructor like me. Exciting weeks are coming, because the diving school under Swiss Management will be rebuilt with new diving equipment and a diving boat with space for 16 divers to share safe and beautiful diving experiences with us.
Meine ersten Unterwassererfahrungen also
Open Water Diver bis heute als SSI Assistent
Instructor Trainer
Unterwasserwelt in seinen Bann gezogen.
Bewundern. Was fehlte also noch…natürlich die Malediven.
losgelassen.
Year 2013
At first, I wasn't interested in being a diver. As a Filipina, we tend to stay as white as snow, and being a diver means exposure to the sun and getting tan. But then my boss, Mr. Keith Dudley, asked if I wanted to try diving. At first, it was scary as I didn't know how to open my ears underwater, doing exercises like mask removal, which I hated the most, and the proper kicking and buoyancy, which I hated so much at first. Then, on the second day of Open Water diving, I found it easy, especially with the best teacher I've had, Mr. Barrington Whitely. To my surprise, I did it and became addicted to diving, not caring how my skin would look like.
Why SSI? I found it very easy to learn through online courses, and it's free. You don't have to bring books all the time to study. Also, the diving shop I was managing belonged to SSI, so why not? They offer the best, so I decided to stay with SSI.
Year 2014
Then, Mr. Martyn Collins came and taught me Advanced Open Water. I had a break from diving since then, as I needed to manage the dive center.
Year 2019
I decided I wanted to pursue my career in diving, so I took my Stress and Rescue up to Open Water in Coron. Right after finishing my course as an Instructor, Covid started, and I didn't manage to teach. It was frustrating, but luckily, I landed a job in a private school to teach students.
Year 2023
When the tourists are back, I plan on having my own diving shop. Then, I met Mr. Detlev Hess and Rodnie Cervantes, and we planned to be partners in our Dive shop, which we named "Bubble Divers Package Tour Services." A new chapter will begin. As of now, we are partners with Royal Suites Hotel here in Port Barton.
As a Filipina islander, I desired fair skin and disliked having dark skin. I resided on my village island for nearly 30 years with my parents and siblings. In 2019, I found myself separated from my family for the first time. When the pandemic struck, I had to return to Leyte, the island where I had spent many years with my family. I remained there until I encountered Mr. Detlev Hess. He took me to Port Barton, where I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Irene Insigne Burlas.
Initially, Mr. Hess introduced me to the world of diving, a concept I was unfamiliar with and uninterested in. However, as time passed, and we spent more time together, he would enthusiastically share his diving experiences with his students. He vividly described the beauty beneath the ocean's surface. Gradually, my interest grew, and he also informed me about SSI (Scuba Schools International).
I began inquiring about diving—whether it was challenging or frightening to be underwater. Mr. Hess encouraged me to learn to dive, and I downloaded the SSI materials. Initially, I felt apprehensive, but Mr. Hess's effective teaching and trustworthiness quickly replaced my fear with excitement and enjoyment.
Witnessing the underwater world's beauty, I developed a strong desire for more dives. Eventually, I completed my open water dive, thanks to the unwavering support of Ms. Irene Insigne Burlas and, above all, my exceptional and reliable diving instructor, Mr. Detlev Hess.
2022
In 2022, I first delved into the world of diving with Mr. Ronie Somerano during our participation in Scubasurero as part of our job. Although I had already completed numerous dives, I lacked a license as I was not very familiar with the process and had no intention of actively engaging in diving.
2023
In 2023, while seeking additional business opportunities alongside my regular job, my interest in diving led me to join forces with Miss Irene Burlas. She introduced me to the diving business.
I obtained my Open Water Diving license under the guidance of Miss Irene Burlas, and that's when my fascination with the underwater world deepened. For me, diving is not merely a business venture; it has become one of my favorite activities. Every day brings the excitement of discovering new things.
Our future plans involve establishing a diving shop in collaboration with Mr. Detlev Hess. In the shop, my primary responsibilities revolve around ensuring that the equipment, tanks, and compressor are in excellent condition, ensuring our divers experience a comfortable dive.
